Bonding repair material to damaged shells requires dry surfaces. Water invasion can cause the need for significant "surgery" to find dry surfaces.

Restoring structural integrity of honeycomb hulls often requires putting the boat back in the mold. Which is expensive and requires that the boat be returned to the builder.
